Dry safely and keep towels ready for use

Use a Drying Towel for wash water and separate T2 cloths for application and buffing.

Follow the method

  1. 01

Inspect each towel for grit and hard particles before it touches the surface.

Why: A towel can transfer contamination to the finish.

  2. 02

Use a dedicated Drying Towel to blot or glide gently over freshly washed wet surfaces.

Why: It is designed to absorb bulk wash water.

  3. 03

Fold a T2 into clean working faces. Use separate cloths for spreading product and final buffing where the product method requires.

Why: Controlling residue helps produce an even finish.

  4. 04

Keep paint, interior, glass and wheel cloths separate. Replace a dirty or saturated cloth.

Why: Different tasks collect different contamination.

  5. 05

Wash towels according to their care labels without fabric softener or bleach, dry as directed and store them clean.

Why: Residue and embedded dirt can affect future use.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using T2 as the whole-car drying towel.
  • Scrubbing harder with a contaminated towel.
  • Using the same cloth on wheels and paint.

Put it into practice

A practical activity

Inspect and sort a Drying Towel and two T2 cloths into their intended jobs.

Check your result

The car is dry and clear of residue; clean tools are separated from used tools.

Explain it in your own words

Which towel absorbs wash water, and which cloth is for buffing?

Optional learning check

Try one question
