Follow the method
- 01
Wash and rinse first, then inspect the surface and confirm finish compatibility.
Why: Loose dirt must be removed before decontamination.
- 02
Check compatibility for coated paint, matte finishes, wraps or PPF before treatment.
Why: Special finishes may need a different method.
- 03
Wet the Clay Cloth and apply generous lubricant approved for both the cloth and the finish.
Why: Lubrication allows the clay face to glide; do not guess a shampoo-as-lubricant mixture.
- 04
Test a small area with little pressure. Keep it lubricated, rinse the clay face frequently and stop if it drags.
Why: Small tests and gentle passes help limit marring.
- 05
Rinse, dry and inspect in good light. If marring or defects remain, seek assessment before proceeding.
Why: Smoothness does not mean all paint defects have been removed.
- 06
Select a compatible maintenance method only after the finish is ready.
Why: Preparation comes before protection.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Claying automatically at every wash.
- Using clay without adequate lubrication.
- Rubbing firmly to remove scratches.
Put it into practice
A practical activity
Assess whether clay is needed. Describe a lubricated test section before any practical contact.
Check your result
The test area is smooth and visually acceptable before treatment continues.
Explain it in your own words
Why is clay optional, and what would make you stop?
