Before starting, ask the learner to identify the surface, product, companion tools and relevant label restrictions.
Why: This checks the plan before a full area is treated.

Demonstrate one small compatible area and explain why each step matters.
Why: A small demonstration makes product control and technique easier to observe.

Ask the learner to repeat the method on a suitable test area using clean tools and light pressure.
Why: Observed technique is more useful than assuming that reading a lesson establishes competence.

Inspect in good light from different angles for residue, haze or unwanted finish changes.
Why: One viewing angle or water beading alone does not establish a complete result.

Review task-specific checks: no paint residue, dry compatible interior surfaces, clear glass, or no excess tyre dressing on grip surfaces.
Why: The finish check depends on the job rather than a universal gloss target.

Ask the learner to explain the method, a common mistake, a stop condition and the next aftercare step.
Why: Explaining the reason shows understanding and identifies what needs review.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Declaring success based only on gloss or beading.
- Treating an online practice answer as proof of practical competence.
- Awarding accreditation or certification through these introductory lessons.
